Dancing in the Streets by David Bower!
Rising to fame for starring in Four Wedding and a Funeral, David Bower has built his career around his other talent – dancing! Together with a partner Isolte Avila, they founded the dance performing group Sign Dance Collective (SDC) back in 2001. Now they are touring all over the world to both hearing and Deaf audiences through a blend of sign, signdance, improvisation, live music interpretation and new composition. (Visit www.signdancecollective.co.uk for further details.)
Being a professional and successful dancer, David promotes communication via dance just as sign language does via hands. A BSL user himself he supports the campaign and says, ”Communication is key to living, we are all proud to support this campaign as we are all promoting the art of visual communication!”
David’s hometown is Wrexham and during the campaign week, he has brought his team back home to perform in the town centre for the local shoppers and visitors.
David is also visiting his old primary school to award certificates to the children who have taken part in learning phrases during the week.
